Important: Mandatory software update for VDO/Continental Smart Tachograph (DTCO 4.1)
We would like to inform you about a mandatory software update concerning the VDO/Continental Smart Tachograph.
According to the new EU Regulation (EU 2021/1228), all smart tachographs must have the function that a software update can be carried out to ensure continuous compliance with safety and legal requirements.
Starting October 15, 2025, the periodic calibration of the VDO/Continental smart tachograph will only be possible if the mandatory software update is installed.
Without this update, the calibration process cannot be completed.
The VDO/Continental WorkshopTab will guide you through every step of the update. To perform the update, your workshop will need Update Vouchers (PN 1554018) and an interface cable (PN 1554019). With 1 voucher, 10 software updates can be done, and the cable makes sure there is a reliable connection between the tablet and the tachograph.
Make sure your workshop is fully prepared and has enough stock of the required products to continue providing seamless service to your customers. Without these products the software update cannot be done!
