Heavy loads bouncing along uneven roads cause huge stresses in commercial truck axles. New trucks have specially designed air bellows that help minimize shocks and vibration. They make for a safer, more comfortable ride for drivers, and protect expensive onboard equipment and delicate loads from damage. Air bellows ensure smooth raising and lowering of lift axles, and reduce tyre wear when the vehicle is empty. 

Regular inspection is needed to check whether air bellows should be replaced to prevent suspension failure. Warning signs include:
• visible damage like cracks, tears, cuts or significant wear to the rubber surface,
• air leaks, usually causing a hissing sound,
• truck sitting lower on one side with suspension looking or feeling uneven,
• increased vibration or bounce during driving.
